The Rungwe Nature Forest Reserve is one of Tanzania's most biodiverse ecosystems. Its montane forests shelter the critically endangered Kipunji — the world's rarest monkey — alongside colobus monkeys, over 300 bird species, and an extraordinary array of orchids, ferns, and ancient trees draped in moss.
The reserve's Ngosi Crater Lake, formed inside a dormant volcanic caldera, is one of the largest such lakes in Africa — a surreal, emerald expanse encircled by forested crater walls.
